Manufactured Concrete Facade Module

Manufacturing of standardized architectural elements was one of the main principles of Khrushchev construction policy (Decree 1871, date 1955). It aimed at cheap and fast production. This resulted in public and residential architecture devoid of individuality, which represented basic, uniform residential blocks, Yet architects used concrete façade modules that were designed for each project individually in order to bring diversity into otherwise boring and faceless architecture of typologies.

In some cases, like in buildings designed by Armen Aghalyan, this technology was used to create a unique architectural character for his public buildings.
